Day 23: Do It For The Plot

The race is on! 7 days left, not including today, of course. I am ready for the break. Sleep in, lazy about, not have to work out for one day. Shit. It is going to be nice.
But we still have work to do.

A couple of months ago, I heard this perfect phrase “Do it for the plot.” I have read a lot of books on writing. This phrase makes my heart skip a beat. To me it screams do something so the story- life- an adventure can begin. I don’t take it as everything has to be unorganized wild, or well planned out. It is a catalyst phrase that moves one to action.

Take a thirty day challenge.
Plan to run a marathon.
Try a bodybuilding competition.
Exhibit at an art show.
Start a new job or take on a fun part time job.
Volunteer.
Join a recreational team.
Do something, and I bet something else will happen.
You don’t get to decide the plot twists, but you sure can initiate any adventure.

Believe it is going to work out for the best. Win, lose, and learn it will all work out, believe it. Making a life that is more than the womb to the tomb and a lot of boring days in between takes action. Rest and lazy days are nice breaks- they are not retirement homes for us to die in. At the end of this 30 day post I will take a break and then get back at it. It will be something a bit different- but I will be here writing. My personal physical routine will enjoy the break. And as I look at my physique, strength, endurance, and flexibility I will create something new for me to do. There is always something to do. But to add the spice of spontaneity is to move the plot in a direction you want it to go… Even if it means going back to school to be a plumber, art teacher, lawyer. Shit, you could even start a nonprofit organization and hand it off to someone else.

If you feel like nothing is happening- Then make it happen.
