“You‘re Under No Obligation To Be The Same Person You Were 5 Minutes Ago.”
Alan Watts
Good morning, let’s go.
You don’t have to be who people think you are. You don’t have to commit to being the person you thought you wanted to be. You don’t owe it to anyone to be a prisoner in your own life.
The world thinks of you one way, and you think of yourself in another. Don’t mind the world or yourself. Do not consider the personality tests, horoscopes, or the other million ways to narrow yourself down as set in stone. You can change.
A head injury can change a person. A traumatic experience can change someone. Subjugation to heavily influenced news and media outlets can change a person. Religious experiences and near-death ones too.
We are not set in stone.
The amazing thing is you have the power to change.
You also have the power to imprison yourself. You can commit to being someone you are not. You can commit to being someone others want you to be. You can lose yourself by committing to rhetoric and fervor that makes you follow a crowd. Even still you have the power to change.
New year new you. Doesn’t have to be bullshit. You can change your attitude and outlook. That alone constantly done will produce a different version of you. Don’t be afraid to go out there and do something amazing. Don’t be afraid to reinvent yourself. If life isn’t what you want it to be- the first place to look for change is within. After that the outside changes with it.
