Goals Give Us Power

Good Morning, Let’s go!

The world we live in is hard. We don’t know what is going to happen. We don’t know when tragedy will strike. We aren’t in control of what other people do. When this happens, we feel powerless. We lose direction and self-belief.

There is more than just achievement that happens when we accomplish goals. What we get is confidence that we too have power in life. That we too can make things happen. That the world and those in power may be able to push, but we can push back. The more we achieve, the more we believe.

The converse unfortunately is true too.

When we quit. When we give up. When we stop short. We teach ourselves that we are powerless to achieve our desired outcomes.

Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.

— Winston Churchill

The above quote is worth committing to memory. The reason for it makes sense if you put a question behind it. What would you do if you knew as long as you didn’t quit, you would succeed? What if I had a million dollars in the bank for you, all you had to do to get it was start a small business? What if all you had to do was learn to invest? What if all you had to do was get in shape? And the only way not to get it is to give up and not try. Other than that, you can fail a thousand different ways, and try a thousand different things.

Most people only try one thing, one time and then quit on their dreams.

Don’t look at the goals you have before you and give up if it doesn’t work out the first try. Learn and try again.

Get after.
