The Last Quarter Of the Year 2022

Happy Spooky season and good morning, let’s go.

I am going to start off with life can change fast.
I have to go to a funeral today. A widow lost the person she was going to spend her life with, children lost their father, hero, and provider. Friends and family left hurting and no amount of thoughts and prayers will change the pain, ease the sorrow, or make the future memories lost. All our plans are hopes we will be here tomorrow.

We are on the last run of the year. We have three months to go after those goals we set at the beginning. Or say fuck it and set new ones. Here is the thing as we finish up this year, it is a great time to think about what you want to accomplish next year. Let’s face it these last three months will be the worst to get through. If you are on a diet, ouch. If you are trying to make time to workout, woof. If you want time to sit and create- maybe. Life for everyone at this point of year gets busy. Family, food, and work dominates our time. Most of our goals are side quests.

I know we had a lot of goals we were serious about. I know there was at least one, if we accomplished it, our life would change. One thing that would make a major difference and produce more fruit in our life than we would know what to do with. Might it be a job change, a fitness goal, actually asking a girl on a date, writing the book you have been imagining, getting a part in a play, moving, getting promoted, or learning a skill that opens new doors. There is generally one thing that makes a huge difference. Shit, even if it is making one real friend, I believe you can do it. I believe if you set your mind to it, you can make that change, in three months.

Here is the key, don’t set your sights on the end of the road. Set them for the joy you have on the road. Quit doing shit you don’t like, to get a prize you don’t really want. We only have two things in the end, the memories of the journey and the friendships we made along the way. If you want to get in shape, get a workout buddy. If you want to start a business get a partner. If you want to be an artist get a team of people around you. The road you travel is yours, how lonely it is, is up to you. Accomplishing one thing alone, is self satisfying. Building relationships and getting shit done is eternally rewarding.

With that being said, my solo writing ass is going to make changes to how I produce the blog. I will finish this week writing in the morning. Starting this week I will write for the upcoming week. My aim is to produce helpful, usable content that is funny, but also moves the writing journey for me into fiction and nonfiction writing projects. The only time I have to write is in the morning. So for the next three months I am going to try this out. Because I like easy to consume content, the post will still be released Monday through Friday in the morning. But each will be a part of five. This should give me five days a week to work on my writing projects that have fallen by the wayside. I am also hoping to actually go back and catalog the last 150+ posts so that you can find an old post you liked. That might not happen until next year though.

Well, this post is long enough and late. Don’t take your life for granted. Don’t let your darker thoughts win. Don’t lose hope and don’t lose sight of what matters, and don’t go it alone, your life is bigger than you- it is a gift to those who love you.
