Don’t Quit

Good morning, let’s go.

It is the last day of Pride month, not the last day of being proud of yourself. The world is a harsh place. I wish it weren’t. I wish it was a place of love and acceptance. I wish it was a place where peace and safety ruled. It is not. It is a place we have to fight to belong. We have to demand our needs be accounted for. It is a place that our right to live is based on our active voice and taking a seat at the table. A month like pride is strength in numbers. It is a chance to know there is more LGBTQ+ people and allies than what we see.

There is a long fight ahead of us.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness isn’t for a select few. It isn’t for one group and no one else. It isn’t for one country and no one else. It is a basic human desire. It is up to us to pursue this for each other and in so doing, we get it for ourselves. There is an unjust desire to take the right to be LGBTQ+ away. A desire to stop people from being who they are and loving who they love. It is our duty to stand against such intrusive actions. The state doesn’t have the right to dictate to the individual who they can and cannot love. I do believe, we the people will stand up for the people.
