Let’s get to something that pushes the art world, hell the real world into action- faith. I am not talking about faith in god, or faith in the universe. What I am talking about is faith in your idea. Faith in a creative goal, faith in making a dream come true.
Most of the world looks outside to someone or something else to get them through the hardships of life. They pray to god to get them out of a situation. They have faith the universe is going to manifest what they want. They Have faith in mommy and daddy to bail them out. They have someone they believe has the ability to save them. They do not take ownership of making something happen.
But the artist, the creative, the writer, the dancer, the actor, They have a different Faith, they have F. I. A.T. H. with the guts backwards. There is an internal driver that they believe in. They believe they have to get better, they believe they have to do the work, they believe in their processes. The reason is they identify with the work. It is an expression of who they are, they cannot leave it to some one else. Which means they have to work through the hard times and desperate situation. They have F. I. A. T. H. which is simply put; Following Inspired Action Through Hardships.
It is a simple statement but true as true can be. The inspired artist, writer, creative worker, knows the inspiration is the easy part. Doing the work to the end, is work. It is actions they have to take. It isn’t pretty; it isn’t the first draft of a work, it is the tenth draft. It isn’t the oil painting, it is the hours of mixing colors and scrapped canvases. It isn’t saying the lines the first time, it is saying it them the hundredth time as if you mean it. It is band practice for hours in a garage. It is the ugly grimy work that turns off those who wish and pray for something to work. It is the dream being built through long days- pain- discouragement- it isn’t hustle it is fucking grinding- it is accomplishment in the face of all of life’s troubles with the inspired one as priority.
If you are in the creative field, the motto must be “don’t wish for it work for it.”
Oh, this sounds shitty, but the truth is if it is really inspired. You will love this grind. It might hurt but it build something that gives you a joy that others do not get to have. It gives you a pride and purpose that surpasses that of the dude who lives to vacation. Work is our play. Play is life. Life is a game we have decided to play.
Post script: Alright, truth be told I was thinking of acronyms for faith and it wasn’t until I looked at it today that I had the A and I flipped. I said “Fuck it. It works this way and I still can remember it. I am keeping it.”
